…to say I’m still alive and haven’t forgotten about this site. I’m not able to update it at the moment because of other obligations, mainly school work. But, I’m also in my free time writing a new glitter script that will be available for purchase. It’s going to be pretty awesome, unlike what’s available out there. Admin panel, supports fonts or letter sets, add an image…pretty much amazing, and comparably cheap. I’m excited to release it. Which also means that this site has been put on the back burner. I have a ton of things to get caught up on with mag scene, so if you sent me an e-mail or wrote a comment, I’m not ignoring you, getting back to you is definitely on my to-do list!

How is my Friday night spent?  Oh, you know, just the usual trying to plan out how I’m going to beg to be let into a library tomorrow morning.  I just found out I have three essays to be in at the beginning of September.  All the libraries at local universities (and there’s a lot) are closed on weekends because it’s in between summer and fall terms.  So tomorrow I have to call up Penn’s library to beg to be allowed access (because on weekends, it’s only open to students) so that I can read 3 books–because all the other ones they have are checked out.  I found another library that’s open, but it only has one book that I need.  I have a few books and an article I could use now, but not nearly what I need.

So I’m going to be working on that until September.  It should be fairly easy–one 3000 word essay and two 1500 word essays.  But I just hate it because I should have known in June, but the email got deleted along with all the spam e-mails I get on my school account every day.  And if I had known, I wouldn’t need to rush around like I am now.  UGHHHHHHH.

In other news, before all this happened, I had been working on the site.  You may not notice it because it’s all backend stuff.  By backend, I mean the scripts/software that runs this site.  My mom is a computer programmer, and has some SQL books and I decided to pick one up and learn a bit about it.  SQL isn’t exactly the same as MySQL, but I just learn from books so much better because it’s all on pages I can lay out and mark up.  Going back to my school work, I always have to print articles & whatnot out, because that’s how I learn best.  So yeah, the other day I went looking for a MySQL & PHP4 book, and went to MicroCenter, because PHP4 isn’t the newest version and they have the cheapest outdated books.  I got a huge book that was exactly what I was looking for for $10, and also picked up something on XML security for $4.

But ANYWAY, I was working on stuff for when people join the site…now, there’s no real reason to join to be honest, except if you’re submitting a zine (if you join you can change your listing or submit a new one without it having to be approved).  I have no expectations that this site will become the next facebook, but I feel bad when people do join because all that happens is that they can send private messages or be notified when new things are added.  There are a few things I want to add that would make it more interactive, but there’s no use mentioning them now because I have no idea when they’d be ready.

I am PISSED!  The movie Penelope was scheduled to come out on the 17th of August.  I’ve been looking forward to this movie for months now, after seeing the trailer back in the winter.  It’s probably the movie I’ve been looking forward to the most for all of 2007.  And now, the release date has been pushed back AGAIN.  Just release it, or send it to DVD, but either way, I WANT TO SEE IT!!!!!!!

What does this mean?  Expect to see a lot of Penelope-themed graphics on this site.  If it’s lack of interest they’re worried about, it’s not going to be because I didn’t try.  So, I’ve added a Christina Ricci category for celebrity images, and plan on expanding that shortly.  Christina PSDs, Penelope layouts, icons…you just wait.  Eff you, Reese Witherspoon and your production company.

I also added 2 themes, one of which you are undoubtedly seeing now.  It’s very simple & clean, which is what I like.  I had wanted to load this theme after I changed all the templates and made the site & its navigation more streamlined, but I was just really surprised at how easy it was to add a theme.  The other theme features a header by ily, who is in charge of the Myspace stuff.  That one I named “sidewalk chalk” because of the font, hehe.

Always thought those glitter word generators were really cool? Ever wanted your own? Now you can, with the free and lightweight GlitterSet! I’ve written this script and decided to let other people use it. It’s different from the glitter generator I use, but it’s perfect if you prefer to use letter sets and don’t know where to start making your own script. I’m guessing Google reindexed the site, because there’s a lot of links coming in for this and it’s pretty high up…#3 for glitter script.  I really do love hearing that you found this site useful, so please let me know if it works for you and what you thought.
